The Glory of God

If we are to positively affect our world, our societies, our neighborhoods, and our own lives, through and for Christ, we must take into our minds that God is a certain kind of being who existed before the creation of the earth, in all of his plentitude. God is not now sitting off somewhere in the cosmos like a neglected senior citizen waiting and hoping for someone to sing a song to him. Nothing could be farther from the truth of the matter. Instead, he is currently surrounded by innumerable glorious beings and angelic hosts, whom he has made, and they worship him rightly, ascribing worth and proper glory to the King of the universe. He is in the constant communion of the loving sufficiency shared between the great persons of the Trinity. Think of the most wonderful, the most attractive, the most magnanimous, the most thrilling, the most vibrant personal company you could imagine, and then multiply that by a factor of infinity, and you have only begun to get a glimpse of what God is doing, where he is, what he was before the foundations of the earth were a glimmer in his mind's eye, and what he will be doing forever.
