Hey, friends! I want to invite you to Building a Resilient Life OBS starting September 11th at FaithGateway! What do you do when times are tough? Do you buckle under the pressure or try to move as quickly as possible through the pain? Do you numb yourself or hide away in isolation? Resilience is a word many of us try to avoid, but what if we could redefine what it means to be resilient?
In this brand-new study from bestselling author and Bible teacher Rebekah Lyons, we'll learn that resilience is more than being able to bounce back after challenges. It's about learning to be tethered to Christ and finding peace and joy even during our most difficult times.
Just put this image in your mind for a moment…
Resilience is like the weeping willow tree in a storm. A willow bends in the wind, it twists, it may warp…but it will still stand. Likewise, we can withstand any storm we face if we remain tethered to Christ, like branches to the vine.
"What if we embraced our struggles and developed a resilience and joy not dependent on circumstances? We are truly resilient when we bring everything to Christ weathered and worn and allow ourselves to be filled and remade in the original shape of our Creator." ~ Rebekah Lyons
Jesus promised us that we will have trouble in this life, but that very same adversity can actually awaken our hearts, and with Jesus on our side, can build a resilience we might not have known was possible.
After a few tough years, this is a message we ALL need!
I don't know about you, but embracing my struggles is not something I really want to do. And the last thing you'll hear me praying is, "You know what I really need? Resilience!" None of us want to go through hard things, pain, and suffering. But the truth is that we need this tool in our belt, especially if we want to be people who are like Jesus and who know that He is our living hope.
In Building a Resilient Life, Rebekah invites us to discover the Five Rules of Resilience to help us thrive and strengthen our resilience muscles:
- Rule 1: Name the Pain
- Rule 2: Shift the Narrative
- Rule 3: Embrace Adversity
- Rule 4: Make Meaning
- Rule 5: Endure Together
The more we endure in hope in Him, the more we look like Him! He and only He, gives us peace beyond understanding, hope beyond today, and a strength we never knew we had.
"Resilience is a muscle developed through responding to adversity in the right ways. Character is who we are because of our relationship with Christ. It is something that can be built and learned as we continue to follow Him."
~ Rebekah
