On first read, it was so comforting. I needed a boost of confidence and a reminder that He is there and on my side. But, reading it again, I decided to dig deeper. With Bible Gateway Plus, I realized that there was so much more to this passage.
I turned to the NASB Charles Stanley Life Principles Bible, where I read the following "Life Lesson."
In order to get you off track, Satan wants to get you to doubt your eternal security in Christ and His faithfulness to fulfill His promises. Since he could not stop you from being saved, he will try to prevent you from doing God's will and receiving your reward. Don't let him. Be faithful to the Lord because obedience to Him always brings blessing.
It made me pause, and really think hard about the situations I experience. I asked myself questions like:
- How can I maintain my confidence in God's promises, even when faced with challenges?
- In what areas of my life do I need to practice more endurance to fulfill God's will?
- What strategies can I use to combat doubts about my faith?
The only solution that comes to mind is to continue Bible study. Thankfully, I have a tool at my fingertips that I'm already using. As we head into the holiday season, which is full of stress, commitments, and struggles to get together, I'd encourage you to sign up for Bible Gateway Plus.
You can look up verses you run across, enhance your daily devotions by reviewing the verse that comes up, and dig deeply as you follow any daily verse or reading plan. On top of that, logging in as a Bible Gateway Plus member removes all paid ads.
Keep God and His Word close and keep Satan at bay!
Blessings,
Jody from Bible Gateway
