Hi, friends!
It's Christine Caine here, writing to invite you to the Don't Look Back Online Bible Study with FaithGateway starting in the New Year!
Have you ever wondered why Jesus is recorded in Scripture commanding us to "Remember Lot's Wife"?
Of all the epic women in the Bible, why did Jesus tell us to remember her?
I've been attending women's conferences for almost four decades and I can honestly say I've never heard a message on remembering Lot's wife. And yet of the possible 170 women mentioned in the Bible, she is the only one that Jesus ever told us to remember.
Just think about it. Of all the women mentioned in some way in Scripture, Jesus only ever told us to remember one, and He doesn't even give us her name. She's just "Lot's wife."
Now, I think I would have been offended if I was one of the other women mentioned in Scripture. Imagine if you were Eve. She'd be thinking, "What do you mean? Remember Lot's wife? I was the first woman and I came from a rib. And basically I've been being blamed for all the problems of humanity ever since I arrived!"
Or what about Sarah? She popped out a kid at 90 without an epidural. Surely we should be remembering her. Isn't she worth remembering? Or Esther who stopped the Jewish genocide? Or Deborah, who was the first female judge of Israel?
