Without the context of the whole passage, I was asking myself: - Why is this verse talking about the wind?
- What does the wind have to do with the womb?
Honestly, I didn't know what God meant here. As I logged in to learn more, I remembered that a coworker recently mentioned how much she loved J. Vernon McGee's Thru the Bible Commentary, which is available with Bible Gateway Plus. I went there immediately and am glad I did. |
Here's what it said about this verse: Don't let what you don't know disturb what you do know. Let me give an example. Any person knows enough to sit in a chair. There is an empty chair in my study right now. I don't mind getting up and going over there to sit down. Now there are a lot of things I don't know about that chair. I don't know anything about its construction—who made it or how it was made—but I do know that I can sit in that chair and it will hold me up. That is really all I need to know about the chair. So don't let what you don't know disturb what you do know. Today, I am accepting that. I don't know why I've experienced certain hardships recently, but I trust that God does know. No matter the direction of the wind, or the mysteries of life, I know that God will hold me up. And he will hold you up too! |
