Life can be so hard. And, if you let it, grief can swallow you whole. In those moments, it's natural to ask why. To get answers to questions like, "Why me, God?" we must turn to Bible study. Let's pause a moment and read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 from the Christian Standard Bible (CSB): |
The God of Comfort 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. |
First, this passage clarifies that there is a purpose to our suffering. We can take the pain and use it to understand and help heal others. If we look to the trusted resources available with Bible Gateway Plus, we can gain even more clarity and insight into this passage. In the CSB Tony Evans Study Bible, we see that, "God often lets us experience difficult circumstances so that he can use us to experientially minister to others and empathize with their pain. When you offer comfort to a fellow believer, you serve as a conduit for the comfort of God, and you open yourself up to experience a deeper level of his reality at work in your life." |
