Day 5: Posture Matters

When we fall short—and we all do—Scripture reminds us to turn to God not with fear, but with humility and trust.

God doesn't expect us to beat ourselves up over our sin, but we are to have a right view of sin and our need for a Savior. When we humbly come before Him, He offers us right standing with Him.

What example do we have of this from the Bible? King David is one. He sinned, repented, and always maintained a "tremendous faith in the power and grace of God."

The New International Dictionary of Bible Difficulties outlines his story well.

It is quite apparent that David did not gain God's favor or approval because of a sinless life. Although his conduct was for the most part exemplary and his courage and ability as a leader beyond comparison, it was not because of these things that he especially pleased God. It was rather because of his tremendous faith in the power and grace of God that his heart was adjudged to be šālēm (kjv, "perfect"; nasb, "wholly devoted"; niv, "fully devoted")
