C.S. Lewis said, "Courage is not simply one of the virtues but the form of every virtue at the testing point, which means at the point of highest reality."
When the story of Exodus begins, the situation is pretty bleak. A new king sits on the throne of Egypt. This Pharaoh felt threatened by the growing numbers of the Israelites, so he made their work conditions unbearable and commanded the Hebrew midwives to kill all the Israelite baby boys who were born. They were essentially enslaved and facing genocide.
In the face of such evil, we find women from different generations, socio-economic classes, and ethnicities who demonstrate different forms of courageous love. |

"Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering." —Hebrews 13:3 God's Word instructs us as believers to remember those in prison as if we were behind bars, sitting right next to them. But how can we do this? Thanks to Prison Fellowship, living out this verse is simple and life-changing for us and for our incarcerated brothers and sisters. The answer? Bibles. Your gift today will help put Bibles and Christian content into the hands of waiting prisoners. Give now to reach men and women with what they need most: God's Word! Thank you for remembering those in prison. |

January 14 — Pope Leo XIV has launched a new catechesis series focusing on the documents of the Second Vatican Council, beginning with Dei Verbum, a dogmatic constitution on Scripture. In his address, the Pope noted that divine revelation is a dialogue of love and friendship with Jesus. He encouraged Christians to cultivate listening and prayer in both personal and communal contexts, allowing God's Word to penetrate their hearts and fostering a deeper relationship with Him. | January 14 — A recent study by MyCross reveals a surge in digital curiosity about faith, with Christianity leading online engagement. While Islam is the most searched religion globally, Christians dominate social media, and the Bible remains the most-researched religious text, attracting 47 million searches monthly. The researchers argue these numbers reveal a shift in how younger generations explore religion, with digital platforms becoming key spaces for connection and discovery. (Christian Today) |
| January 14 — The 2026 Open Doors World Watch List names the 50 most dangerous countries for Christians, with North Korea, Nigeria, Somalia, and Yemen topping the list, while Syria rose to 6th place due to increased violence and extremism following political upheaval. Globally, over 388 million Christians face high levels of persecution. Yet there are glimmers of hope, as some regions, like Bangladesh, showed signs of improvement thanks to advocacy efforts on behalf of persecuted believers worldwide. (Christianity Today) |

"Solus Christianus, nullus Christianus." In clumsy English: "A solitary Christian is no Christian."
The Latin phrase was coined by Tertullian, an early church father. It makes a strong, exaggerated claim: alone you cannot be a Christian. Chalk it up to Tertullian's character or perhaps to the lawyer in him; he was a spiritual rigorist, a religious maximalist.
Solitude is important in the life of a Christian. And yet there is more than a grain of truth in Tertullian's phrase. Think of the Christian hope for fulfillment in the world to come. Its most potent image is that of a city — both the people and the built environment — located in the new creation. |
| Ephesians 2:1–7 actually form a single sentence in the Greek, with the opening phrase hanging in the air (you were dead in sins) until the main verb in verse 5 (God made us alive).
Now, of course, Paul can tell the story of sin and salvation in many different ways. We shouldn't press individual passages for a total theory. Here, he chooses to foreground, not the intricate meaning of Jesus' saving death, but the life-giving power of Jesus' resurrection. As throughout Ephesians, he is emphasizing who and what the church now is: in this case, a community of people brought from death to new life through the grace of God in the gospel. |
