Earlier this spring, the AI company Anthropic published an unusual confession. Its researchers studied a million conversations with the company’s assistant, Claude, hunting for the places where the model tells people what they want to hear rather than what’s true — a failure they call “sycophancy.” Most of the time, the AI behaved. But there was one domain where flattery spiked above all the others: “spirituality.”
In conversations about faith, the future, and meaning in life, the model slipped into telling people what they wanted to hear roughly 38% of the time — about four times its average. The report’s appendix is candid about what that looks like in practice. The two most common cases were astrological readings and divination — where the model, in the researchers’ own phrase, ends up “playing the character of fortune teller.”

Although reading the Bible in its traditional thematic organization is by far the most common way to read it — for the obvious reason that it’s the order the church first established some 1600 years ago — it has also become popular in recent times to read the Bible chronologically, in the order the events happened.
I myself have read the Bible this way, and although it can be a little tricky to figure out (as I’ll explain below), it is a great way to more fully immerse yourself in the complete storyline of Scripture.
This article will help you organize the books of the Bible into a chronological reading plan.

Although there’s no wrong way to read the Bible, by far the two most common ways to read the books of the Bible in order are thematically and chronologically.
Thematic (or canonical) order is the most straightforward: this is how most Bibles are (and always have been) organized. However, the order differs slightly between traditions, at least when you add in the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books included in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles.
This article will walk you through the list of every book of the Bible in order according to traditional canon — including the Apocrypha (clearly marked from the rest).
