One verse can change how you read everything around it. We’ve been studying the Parable of the Sower—one of Jesus' most familiar stories. Most of us know the four soils. But familiarity can be its own kind of shallow ground.
Luke's account gets specific about what the good soil actually does:
But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. —Luke 8:15 (NKJV)
Noble. Good. Patient. That's not just soil—that's a description of the heart.
