Most of us only know the story of David and Goliath, but never think about Goliath’s lineage. Who was he, and who else was in his family?
Goliath had a brother, which we discover in two specific verses:
19 In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod. (2 Samuel 21:19, NIV)
5 In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod. (1 Chronicles 20:5, NIV)

Lahmi, the brother of Goliath, was killed by Elhanan, the son of Jair the Bethlehemite, from the tribe of Judah (2 Samuel 21:19; 1 Chronicles 20:5).
