Fear can be a warning, but it was never meant to be our master. Yet when fear takes over, we often respond by trying to control everything around us.
We tell ourselves that if we can just anticipate every problem, prevent every disappointment and manage every outcome, we will finally feel safe. But the more we try to control, the more anxious we become.
Control is fear disguised as strength.
But God does not ask us to carry the weight of every possible outcome. He invites us to trust Him with what we cannot control.

Pope Leo XIV Diagnosed With Lung Cancer After Surgery — October 13: The Vatican said doctors confirmed lung adenocarcinoma after removing the lower lobe of Pope Leo’s right lung. The procedure was successful and without complications, but physicians await lymph-node testing to determine whether the cancer spread and what further treatment may be needed. The 71-year-old pope’s audiences are canceled through October 20. His planned November trip to South America remains uncertain while he recovers. (RNS)

Farmer Unearths Monumental Statue of Ramses II — October 14: A farmer tilling land in Egypt’s Nile Delta uncovered a carved block that led archaeologists to a colossal Ramses II statue. Its five-foot head suggests the complete monument stood over 27 feet tall. Excavators also found a smaller royal statue and a granite block bearing pharaonic titles. Ramses II is popularly associated with Exodus’s unnamed pharaoh, though Scripture never explicitly identifies that ruler. (New York Post)

British Public Increasingly Uncertain About Christian Beliefs — October 14: Echoing U.S. research (Oct. 12, below), a survey of UK adults found widespread uncertainty about doctrine: 39% were unsure about the Trinity, 46% about justification by faith rather than works, and 56% about the Holy Spirit’s role in spiritual rebirth. Among evangelicals, 28% had first attended church within the past two years. The research highlights discipleship needs, especially among new Christians. (Christian Today)

How easy is it to access God’s Word?
A recent report from the Bible Access Initiative sheds light on global Bible access, and while it may not seem surprising at first glance, a deeper look reveals why Bible access varies across the globe.
The study looked at 106 countries around the world and discovered that half a billion Christians in the world live in nations where the Bible is illegal to possess, or access is somehow restricted.

Jude is tucked away near the back of the Bible, a one-chapter letter (25 verses), often neglected, preserving a timeless message of warnings and pleas that had fallen on the deaf ears of previous generations — and has now come to the attention of ours.
Likely written in the first century, the letter speaks to believers facing a threat from within the church, and its message still speaks to us today.

Throughout His earthly ministry, the word Jesus used to address God Most High is Abba. It’s a transliteration. Meaning, translators wrote the sound of the word which the Hebrews spelled: Av.
Greek translators took the Aramaic or Hebrew, Av, and they wrote the closest word they had in their lexicon: Pater. In Greek it means “Father,” but “Father” in Greek and “Father” in Hebrew are not necessarily the same thing.
