Good morning,
As we head into the holidays, I want to share that this is a sad season for me. In November, many years ago, I lost my father to cancer.
I was barely an adult, and the loss of our rock shook our family. Our foundation cracked, and the holidays lost the joy they once had.
I won't dwell on my story, as we all have experiences that break our hearts. But, going into what is meant to be a joyous season can be difficult.
For me, I found that the courage to move forward and to find joy again is much easier when Jesus is in focus.
That focus takes the form of reading and studying the Bible regularly. Carving out time each day, no matter how small (even 5 minutes), keeps the path open ahead of me and I can step through these emotions with positivity.
What does this look like?
In practical terms, I receive the verse of the day from Bible Gateway each day via email. I take those 5 minutes to read it, and when I have questions about the verse, I look it up using the resources available with my Bible Gateway Plus membership.
Sometimes, it's just taking advantage of some of the resources we have available. For example, did you see the 5-day study on the Miracles of Jesus? (Jesus healed so many people! Click here if you want to receive the study too!). I found that to be helpful.
On other days, when I have the day to myself, I sit with the Bible text open and just read and read.
Bible Gateway and Bible Gateway Plus are great tools to connect with the teachings and message of Jesus in every season of life.
You are not alone in your sadness, grief, anxieties, and fear. Let God speak to you through the Bible.
