It's hard to believe, but Christmas is almost here. If you're anything like us, you've probably already started planning ahead your gifts, choir rehearsals, family photos all decked out in red plaid, the perfect menu for holiday meals, and… dreaming about Grandmother's peanut butter brickle.
But, as Christians, that's not all we plan for. Though the season is filled with so many wonderful things, it's also a chance to focus on our Savior King, the Hero of the Christmas story, our Lord of Lords, Jesus.
We're delighted to announce that Pastor Louie Giglo's brand-new Bible study Waiting Here for You: An Advent Journey of Hope will be our Christmas Online Bible Study starting December 4, the first week of Advent. You won't want to miss this!
What is Advent?
Advent is, literally, about waiting on the Lord! Advent, (from Latin adventus, "coming"), in the Christian church calendar, is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas, and also of preparation for the Second Coming of Christ.
The Advent season reminds us that in the middle of the shining, miraculous, beautiful wonder of Christmas, there is also the difficult reality of waiting on God's promises. The Jewish people were waiting for hundreds of years for the birth of the promised Messiah. We continue to wait for His return.
What are you waiting on the Lord to do? How do we wait well?
Whether we're waiting for healing, justice, restoration, or resolution, because of Jesus, we can worship as we wait. We can trust that He will come through for us. He has in the past and He'll do it again!
